Cyclothon 2025 flagged off to promote environment awareness

The Cyclothon 2025, themed “Ride for Environment,” was successfully organized today by the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur, as part of the Nation First @ 75 Campaign. The event aimed to raise awareness about sustainable living and climate action, drawing participation from cycling enthusiasts, students, environmental advocates, and local citizens.
The 9-kilometre cycle rally was jointly flagged off by Dr. Kh. Palin, President of the Association of Healthcare Providers, Manipur, and Dr. T. Brajakumar, Director of the association. Participants included members of the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association, Riverbank Society, SAI NERC, and the All Manipur Working Journalists Union.
The rally commenced at 7:30 AM from Lilasingh Khongnangkhong, following a route that passed through key locations including Kangla Western Gate, Nityapat Chuthek, Keishampat Crossing, Keishamthong, Sanjenthong, Secretariat Road, Nongmeibung, Ananda Singh Academy, and Porompat Crossing, before concluding at the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change office around 8:30 AM.
Officials emphasized that the Cyclothon was not only a physical activity but also a platform to promote environmentally responsible lifestyles. Participants were encouraged to integrate cycling and other green practices into daily routines to reduce carbon footprints and support climate initiatives. The event highlighted the state’s commitment to fostering a culture of environmental sustainability and community participation.
The Directorate of Environment & Climate Change reiterated the importance of collective efforts in addressing climate change, urging citizens across Manipur to adopt eco-friendly practices, protect natural resources, and prioritize the planet’s well-being.
