CRPF organizes Fit India Freedom Run

Imphal, Oct 2:

A 5 KM run  under “CRPF Fit India Freedom Run “  was organized by 109 Bn CRPF under the aegis of IGP, Manipur and Nagaland Sector on 01 October 2020 at Mongsangei 109 BN Hqrs. In view of the nation-wide Corona  pandemic, the Fit India Freedom Run has been ideated in a unique way. Participants are  allowed to run  at their own place and at their own pace between August 15, the 73rd Independence Day and October 2, the 151st Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The program was inaugurated by  Randeep Datta(PMG), IGP, M&N Sector in presence of D.K Tripathi, DIGP,  Suresh Sharma , DIGP, H.K Kanaujia, DIGP, Vinod Kumar, Commandant-109, and other officials, personnel of 109 BN. L.Sarita Devi, Arjuna Awardee, Indian Boxer, Ms O. Bembem Devi, Arjuna Awardee, Indian footballer, and Mr. Th. Thouba Singh, Assistant Director, Youth Affairs and Sports  graced the occasion and participated in the event. While speaking on the occasion Randeep Datta,(PMG), IGP, M&N Sector  emphasized the importance of fitness in one’s life .

He further said , a fit and healthy individual leads to an equally healthy society and strong nation. The CRPF jawans and the people across the country are  running holding up flags in the early morning and there cannot be a better boost to our patriotism and this helps tremendously in the way we  think and perform as a citizen of India. The culture in our forces is beautiful. This Freedom Run is  like a celebration and festival. Every CRPF personnel  is happy as they are getting involved in this run along with their families. The CRPF has set a target of covering at least one crore km during the Fit India Freedom Run. This is a testament of our  courage.

Lauding the participation of CRPF personnel, L.Sarita Devi, Arjuna Awardee, Indian Boxer said , “I am delighted to see such enthusiasm to participate in the Fit India Freedom Run. While speaking on the occasion Ms O. Bembem Devi, Arjuna Awardee, Indian footballer, emphasized the importance of sports and fitness in one’s life . Playing sports inculcates team spirit, develops strategic & analytical thinking, leadership skills, goal setting and risk taking.

Sports is an extremely important component for the overall development of our nation. Mr. Th. Thouba Singh, Assistant Director, Youth Affairs and Sports appreciated the efforts of CRPF  and said   it’s time we inspire young talent, give them top-notch infrastructure and training of the highest level. We need to inculcate a strong spirit of participation in sports that enables players to demonstrate their true potential. Only then can India realise its dream of becoming a sports super power.

The program ended in high spirits. During the program all norms relating to COVID-19 issued by Ministry of Health, MHA, are strictly adhered by all participate personnel.
