Communist Party of India pays homage to late Atul Kumar at Imphal

In a commemoration held in Imphal, the Manipur State Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI) honored the memory of Atul Kumar Anjaan, a prominent figure known for his significant contributions to activism and academia. Moirangthem Nara, a veteran politician and CPI leader, led the tribute, reflecting on Anjaan’s impactful legacy.
Anjaan, a senior leader of the Communist Party of India, passed away on Friday morning after battling a prolonged illness. At the age of 70, he left behind a remarkable legacy marked by his eloquence as a speaker and his role as the party’s voice in the Hindi heartland.
Commencing his political journey as a student leader in Lucknow, Anjaan ascended to become a member of the National Executive Committee of the Communist Party of India. Notably, he served as the General Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha for five terms, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the cause of farmers and agricultural workers.
Moirangthem Nara paid homage to Anjaan, highlighting his pivotal role in nurturing the students’ movement, advocating for the rights of farmers, and strengthening the Communist Party’s presence nationwide. Describing him as an indomitable fighter against right-wing and fascist forces, Moirangthem emphasized the loss felt by the Communist Party of India and the Kisan movement in the wake of Anjaan’s passing.
