Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today said that there is no shortage of rice in the state. Talking to reporters during an inspection visit to JNIMS today, Ibobi said that the state at present has rice stock of around 2 months. He said the FCI has been directed to transport rice to the state whether there is contractor or not.The Chief Minister was referring to media report which had highlighted about the apprehension of the shortage of rice in the state as the FCI had reportedly stop ferrying of rice in the state in the wake of the UNC’s indefinite blockade along the National High Ways.Mention may be made that around 336 empty trucks were escorted to Jiribam yesterday along the NH 37 for ferrying of essential commodities. Media reports highlighted about the absence of trucks which will transport rice from the FCI godown located at Jiribam.Chief Minister further said that the state government is not giving priority to rice as the state at present have around 2 months stock. He said as there might be shortage of the other essential commodities like petrol, diesel etc the state government had sent trucks to ferry the items under tight security arrangement.Earlier today, the Chief Minister inspected the construction site of JNIMS administrative block, ladies hostel and gynaecology wards. The Medical Council of India will be inspecting the state government run medical college in December this year.

Why should the honourable CM think about the stock status?? Why can’t he think of stopping the bandh and blockade?? Why can’t he declare such idiosyncrasies as illegal?? Why can’t he call upon the union home minister and brief him about The UNC bullying tactics an put an immediate stop to such unlawful ransom techniques??
Time to answer a lot of such questions Sir.
