Imphal, Nov 20:
Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has vowed to bring the killers of six individuals, including three women and three children, to justice, following their tragic deaths at the hands of suspected Kuki militants in Jiribam district last week.
Expressing deep sorrow and anger in a video message shared on X, N. Biren Singh described the killings as “barbaric acts” and “crimes against humanity.” He assured the public that intensive search operations were underway to track down the perpetrators.
“Such barbaric acts have no place in any civilized society. The hunt for these terrorists is currently underway, and they will be brought to justice very soon. We will not rest until they are held accountable for their inhuman actions,” N. Biren Singh declared.
The victims had been missing since November 11 after an attack on a displaced persons’ camp in Jiribam’s Borobekra area. The attack followed a gunfight between militants and security forces, which resulted in the deaths of 10 insurgents.
N. Biren Singh commended the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for their swift and decisive action during the attack, which prevented further loss of life. “Around 40 to 50 armed terrorists launched an assault on internally displaced persons residing in a relief camp and targeted a police station in Jiribam. The timely response of CRPF personnel neutralized 10 terrorists, saving hundreds of innocent lives,” he said.
The chief minister also acknowledged the central government’s efforts to restore peace in the state, including the deployment of 20 additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), with 50 more on the way.
N. Biren Singh called for unity and condemned the violence in the strongest terms. “The killing of women and children is a crime against humanity and cannot be justified. Together, we will overcome these dark times and work towards a peaceful future,” he said, urging the public to stand firm against terror and violence.
