CBI raids official quarter of former RIMS Director Dr. S. Sekharjit

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today raided the official quarter of former RIMS director, Dr. S Sekharjit in connection with the dental chair procurement scam.  The CBI team conducted the drive since 7.am today morning and seized several document from the official quarter of the former director located inside the premises of RIMS campus. The CBI team also reportedly raided the official quarter of one Dr. RR Singh, former Principal in charge of the Dental College RIMS. Documents for procuring the dental chairs were reported to have been recovered from his official quarter. The CBI team also raided the office of the account section at the administrative block of RIMS. Almost all documents used by the former director when he was the director have also been seized for investigation.It may be mentioned that Former Director of RIMS Dr. S Sekharjit was relieve from his duty by an order of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on August 25 without giving any reason and appointed Dr. Chongtham Arunkumar, head of Orthopaedics Department as Director-in-charge of RIMS . However, source said that the former director was relieved from the post in connection with the misappropriation of the Institution’s fund in procuring dental chair and also for investigation of the various charges levelled against in connection with the appointment of Nurses and other staffs.Media report had recently revealed about the anomalies in the appointment of the former principal of Dental College, RIMS. Besides that organisations like Vision Foundation Manipur had highlighted the corrupt practice of the former RIMS director to the recruitment of staff nurse as well as renovation works of the RIMS operation Theatre. The organisation had alleged that fund meant for renovation works of eight operation theatres has been misappropriated.
