Imphal, Aug 12:
During the final day of the 6th Manipur Legislative Assembly session, BJP MLA Khumukcham Joykishan addressed the issue of the ongoing crisis in Manipur while participating in the consideration and passing of the Manipur Appropriation Bill. He emphasized that the crisis has led to widespread criticism of the BJP, including the state Chief Minister and the Prime Minister. Joykishan asserted that it would be counterproductive for the BJP to benefit from or wish for the continuation of the crisis, noting the party’s commitment to resolving the situation.
Joykishan acknowledged that finding a solution to the crisis is a complex and gradual process, stressing that it cannot be resolved overnight. He criticized individuals who have emerged as leaders during this turmoil, alleging that some are exploiting the crisis to advance their own political ambitions. According to him, these leaders contribute to the perpetuation of conflict by spreading divisive rhetoric.
The MLA urged all stakeholders, including opposition members, to collaborate and contribute constructive suggestions toward resolving the crisis. He also appealed to halt the politicization of relief efforts at the camps where internally displaced persons (IDPs) are taking shelter. Joykishan’s remarks highlight a call for unity and a collective effort to restore peace and harmony in Manipur amidst the ongoing challenges.
