Imphal, Aug 4:
The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) celebrated the 27th Manipur Integrity Day today at the Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community Hall, Imphal. The event saw leaders and dignitaries coming together to reaffirm their commitment to the unity and integrity of Manipur.
Ph. Nando Luwang, President of AMUCO, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Manipur Integrity Day. “This day is celebrated every year to bring the message of unity and to resolve to face those who challenge the integrity of Manipur. In 1997, on this day, 500,000 people took to the streets to demonstrate to the entire world and the Indian government the resolve of the people,” he stated.
Nando Luwang expressed concern over the persistent divisive politics played by some leaders. “Even though people oppose it, the government continues to engage in divisive politics. Even today, some ethnocentric leaders, driven by their own vested interests, are trying to break the integrity of Manipur,” he added.
The event was graced by presidium members, including Ito Tongbram, Advisor, AMUCO; Soraisam Memcha, President, Poirei Leimaro Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur; Y. Kunjarani, President, All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association; and Yumkhaibam Hayatur Rahman, President, All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs’ Organisation.
