A three-day capacity building workshop on hospitality, wildlife tourism and nature camp management, organised under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance Scheme, concluded successfully on Saturday at Shilheipung Garden.
The programme was conducted by the Central Forest Division, Forest Department Manipur, from March 26 to 28 with the objective of strengthening skills in eco-tourism, hospitality management and sustainable nature-based enterprises.
Divisional Forest Officer Vikram Nadhe, Assistant Conservator of Forests Aquib Jamal and Range Forest Officer David Singh of Sawombung Forest Range attended the programme. Resource persons, including Brajesh Khoyumthem and Premjith, shared insights on wildlife tourism and nature camp management.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Nadhe stated that forests serve not only as ecological assets but also as potential sources of employment. He highlighted the scope of eco and nature-based tourism in generating sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for the youth.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to various aspects of tourism, including eco-tourism, wildlife tourism and adventure tourism, along with practical guidance on managing nature camps and developing tourism-based enterprises aligned with conservation principles.
The workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity building, encouraging participants to explore eco-friendly livelihood opportunities under the RAMP scheme. The Central Forest Division also appreciated the contributions of the experts and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting conservation-linked livelihoods.
