As the balanced and nutritious diet is necessary for increasing the immunity level of the body, equally important is sound and adequate sleep. During sleep. the body repairs the damaged and weak cells, so that on waking up, the person feels fit and full of energy. If there is a lack of sleep due to any reason, then the next day is spent in lethargy and the person feels exhausted all the time. That is why a healthy person must get enough sound sleep to maintain his energy level. A simple formula for how many hours of sleep a healthy person should get every day is that if you feel tired after waking up, it means that you should sleep a little more. According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (USCDCP), a grown up person needs at least 7 hours or maximum 9 hours of sleep every day. If after sleeping for 7 hours at a stretch, your body remains active throughout the day, then that much sleep is enough for you. But if you feel tired and lethargic during the day, it means you should sleep a little longer.
Getting less sleep can increase blood pressure (BP). Such people are 20 per cent more likely to have a heart attack or similar problems. They can also be affected by obesity and weakness. Actually, sleep keeps the hormones in balance, due to which the development of the body takes place and the mind remains agile. Getting good and sound sleep increases the efficiency of the person. Due to this, the immunity of the body increases manifold, and the body weight remains under control and in a balance. Getting enough sleep keeps diseases like heart problems and diabetes away. Taking 10 to 15 minutes of power nap is also a great way to maintain the energy level of the body during the day.
By sleeping for a few minutes, the body becomes refreshed. Especially after having lunch. Power naps have special significance in summers. Sleeping for a few minutes in the middle of the day is called a power nap, because it provides power or energy to the person. It is a fact about Portugal’s famous football player Cristiano Ronaldo that he never gets eight hours of sleep like common people. On the contrary, he sleeps five times a day for one and a half hours. This amazing routine of this international football player has been going on since he used to play for Manchester United. A 40 minute power nap after lunch is also a part of his routine. Comfortable bedding, neat and clean bedsheet, a comfortable and cosy type of clean soft pillow and a quiet low-light environment – is an ideal setting for sound and deep sleep. It is good to go to sleep by 11 o’clock in the night, so that by 6 am or 7 am in the morning you can wake up. Before sleeping, remember all the good and positive things that have happened during the day and thank everyone in your mind. Keeping any kind of worry in mind interferes with sleep. The best habit to follow is to feel gratitude about everybody and be thankful toward all living beings, things and God, before sleeping. [email protected]
