The East Zone Inter-University Badminton Tournament (Men) hosted by the National Sports University (NSU), Manipur commenced today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal, with 58 university teams from across the East Zone competing in the tournament.
Thongam Biswajit Singh, Minister for Power, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Agriculture, Science & Technology, and President of the Manipur Badminton Association, presided as Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Usha S. Nair, Vice Chancellor (O) of NSU, Dr. L. Dibamani Singh, Registrar of NSU, and T. Phulen Meitei, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur.
The tournament was officially declared open by Th. Biswajit Singh, who, in his address, highlighted the significance of sports in fostering national pride and unity, stressing Manipur’s contributions to India’s athletic achievements.
The tournament, scheduled to run from November 6 to 10, is set to encourage camaraderie and competitive spirit among young athletes from 58 participating teams.
