As part of World Cancer Day 2026, a friendly football match was organised today at the Artificial Football Turf of Kanglei Sanpung, Yairipok, Tulihal. The match was played between the Cancer Warrior Survivors Football Team and AMBA FC.
On the occasion, social worker G Ranjan Sharma, Y Lanchandra Singh, Secretary of AIM Club, social activist Dr Kiran Yendrembam, and Kangjam Birendra Singh, Secretary of the Manipur Cancer Society, attended the event as special guests.
The programme was organised in line with the World Cancer Day 2026 theme “Unity by Unique”. Through the football match, which witnessed participation and support from football lovers, the organisers conveyed the message that cancer is a challenge that can be faced together. The event aimed to spread awareness that cancer is not something to be feared and that timely treatment and collective support can help overcome the disease. Football enthusiasts also expressed solidarity with cancer patients through their participation and presence.
The World Cancer Day football match was convened by social activist Dr Kiran Yendrembam.
In the match played today, the Cancer Warrior Survivors Football Team defeated AMBA FC by 6–5. Kangjam Birendra Singh, Team Captain-cum-Goalkeeper of the Cancer Warrior Survivors Football Team, was declared Player of the Match.
