The opening match of the first league round saw SWC-A take on MNC Mongkhanglambi. Several teams are expected to participate in the tournament, aimed at promoting football and encouraging sportsmanship among youth in the region.

The tournament is held in memory of late Thingujam (O) Nganbi Devi of Kha Naorem Leikai, Khongman, Imphal East, remembered for her simplicity and community-oriented life. She was the wife of late Th. Nabakishwore Singh, popularly known as Oja Tomba, a respected teacher of the area.
To honour her legacy, her family established the Thingujam (O) Nganbi Devi Memorial Trust, which has been actively supporting education, sports, and welfare initiatives. The Trust has been sponsoring the annual football tournament since 2016 as part of its efforts to promote youth engagement and community development.
Apart from the tournament, the Trust also extends support to senior citizens during Yaoshang and recognises meritorious Class 10 and 12 students during SWC Foundation Day.
