The 1st DCA Inter School Chess Tournament concluded with great enthusiasm after three days of intense competition organized by D-Chess Academy, Uripok Khoisnam Leikai at Pitambara English School. Dayanand Thoudam from Shishu Nistha Class VIII emerged as the champion, securing a perfect score of 9 points out of 9 matches, claiming the title of the inaugural champion of the tournament.
Lemba Sougaijam of Ramakrishna School Class VI secured the second position with 8 points, closely followed by Khagokpam Nowboy of SL Arena of Learning, also with 8 points, securing the third position. The prize winners from 4th to 10th place included Oinam Khelemba of KV Langjing, Yaingamba Yumnam of Ramakrishna Mission School, Maibam Yohenba of Shishu Nistha Niketan, Dinesh Chabungbam of Pitambara English School, and Nungshithoi Ng. of KV Langjing.
The prize distribution and closing function was graced by Laishram Brijkeshwor Singh, Proprietor of Phou-Oi-Bee Hotel, North AOC, Pradeep Maibam, Founder of Elle’s, and Kh. Nilima, Principal of Pitambara English School, as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and President respectively. During the ceremony, a souvenir titled “BRAIN GAME” was collectively released by the dignitaries and distributed among the attendees.
The event, which saw participation from 327 participants, including 38 girls and 289 boys representing 38 schools across Manipur, was made possible through the generous support of sponsoring firms such as ITD Hospital, Uripok, Elle’s Group, HBL Architects, ZADE Automobiles, Nameirakpam Dhaneshor, CEO of PHIDA, Laishram Naresh Kumar of ESING Packaged Water, Sarat Thoudam, and others.
Yambem Dhanabir Singh, Head Coach of D-Chess Academy, expressed gratitude to all players, parents, Pitambara School authorities, and everyone involved in making the tournament a resounding success.
