Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur celebrated its 76th Foundation Day cum National Student’s Day at NEILIT Akampat today. The event, marking over seven decades of student activism by ABVP in Manipur, was graced by Chief Guest N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University. The celebration also featured special appearances by Asokan Ji, Chetriya Pracharak Pramukh of RSS, and Ningombam Deepak Singh, State Treasurer of ABVP Manipur.
In his address, Chief Guest and Vice Chancellor Naorem Lokendra Singh highlighted the rich history of ABVP, which was established as an independent student organization on July 9, 1949, shortly after India’s independence. He emphasized the significant role ABVP has played in providing opportunities for students to contribute to the nation’s progress. “The importance of ABVP’s efforts for the growth of India cannot be understated,” he remarked. “ABVP helped advance the nation’s socio-economic transformation after independence through student efforts, incorporating diversity and unity that followed the ideals of the Constitution of India.”
In the event, Gautam Philem, State Secretary of ABVP Manipur, spoke about the organization’s ongoing community service initiatives. As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, ABVP conducted blood donation drives at JNIMS and Iroishemba, as well as a clean-up campaign at Ima Market.
