Imphal, Mar 5:

On March 4, 2025, a total of 20 weapons, along with various types of ammunition, grenades, and protective gear, were voluntarily surrendered by the public across Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Imphal West districts.

In Bishnupur, firearms surrendered included SLR rifles, an INSAS rifle, a .303 rifle, a locally made pistol, a carbine, and a single-barrel gun, along with ammunition and explosives. Imphal East saw the surrender of pistols, hand grenades, stun grenades, an unidentified bomb, and a significant number of live rounds and empty cartridges. In Imphal West, weapons included an SBBL gun, a .32 pistol, and various grenades and ammunition, along with communication and protective equipment.

This initiative reflects the public’s commitment to law enforcement efforts, contributing to peace and security in the region.
Meanwhile, Manipur police launched a series of operations which led to the arrest of five militants belonging to different proscribed groups, in Churachandpur and Imphal East districts.

A 19-year-old man was arrested with three juveniles from the Bethel area of Churachandpur town on March 3. All of them were cadres of the proscribed United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a police officer said. They were allegedly involved in extorting local businesses, and smuggling of drugs and weapons, he said.
