Imphal, Mar 5:
The All Manipur Students Guardians’ Organisation (AMSGO) has raised serious concerns over the recent question paper leak in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM).
In a statement, AMSGO General Secretary Sumati Sougrakpam condemned the incident, stating that such malpractices undermine the credibility of the examination system and render the process meaningless. However, she appreciated the swift action taken by COSEM, BOSEM, and the Cyber Crime Police SP in identifying those responsible and taking preventive measures against such crimes in the future.
The organization has also urged the judiciary to reject the bail applications of teachers from certain private English schools who were allegedly involved in disrupting the examination process.
AMSGO further highlighted that the increasing focus on securing high pass percentages has led to unethical practices, including the distribution of leaked question papers and prepared notes. Such actions, they warned, compromise the integrity of the education system and contribute to its decline. The organization stressed that unless strict measures are taken now, similar incidents may recur in the future.
The statement also called on the government, education boards, and councils to conduct thorough scrutiny before granting recognition to schools. AMSGO emphasized that indiscriminate approvals without proper verification have created a crisis in maintaining educational standards. The organization urged authorities to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) only after a stringent evaluation process to prevent further deterioration of the system.
Expressing deep concern over the state of education, AMSGO called for a collective effort from the government, school authorities, teachers, and parents to curb such malpractices. They warned that failure to take firm action would have severe consequences for Manipur’s education system and future generations.
“The lack of ethics among teachers and accountability among parents is a major challenge. If these values continue to decline, the future of our children will be at risk,” AMSGO stated.
The organization has appealed to all stakeholders, including civil society, to take responsibility and work towards restoring integrity in the education system for a brighter future.
