Imphal, Nov 5:

The United Peoples’ Front (UPF) in Manipur has announced plans to observe the death anniversary of Maharaja Gambhir Singh on January 9 as National Reconciliation Day. This year, the UPF has extended the occasion into a full Reconciliation Month, set to begin on December 21.
The reconciliation events will commence with a journey to Cachar, Assam, where a program will be held at Awa Palli the following day. Representatives from organizations including the United Peoples’ Front, Hingminasi Eikhoi, Manipuri Youth Front of Assam, and the Maharaja Gambhir Singh Memorial Committee will attend this gathering, alongside locals from Chandrapur, Cachar.
Another program is scheduled for December 24, following which the group will return to Imphal. The UPF will then embark on a state-wide campaign, spreading messages of reconciliation and unity. This series of events will culminate on January 9 with a commemorative program at Maharaja Gambhir Singh’s statue at Canchipur.
The UPF encourages community members to participate and contribute to the month-long observance, aiming to honor the memory of Maharaja Gambhir Singh while fostering reconciliation and unity among the people.
