Ukhrul Nov 5:

Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) issue Strong Condemnation Against Heinous Assault on Poumai Naga Members by Arambai Tenggol.
The TNL and TKS expressed their collective anguish and strongest condemnation over the brutal attack on two innocent Poumai Naga youths from Senapati District, namely V. Hrangao Blesson from Kodom Khullen and Dalou from Liyai Khullen, at Lamshang, Imphal, on October 31, 2024. This unprovoked assault was carried out by members of Arambai Tenggol, a known militant group from the Imphal Valley.
Reports reveal that the two victims were abducted while returning from a cattle purchase at Thoubal. In an appalling display of inhumanity, they were savagely tortured, robbed of their hard-earned money, and left in a critical condition. This barbarity is a direct affront to the Naga community and a grievous violation of basic human dignity. TNL Vice President Eno. R.S. Jollyson has decried this atrocity, stating, “We demand an unqualified apology from those responsible, and we urge the state government to swiftly apprehend and prosecute the culprits, setting an example through the severest punishment. Additionally, we insist on adequate compensation for the victims for the immense suffering inflicted upon them.”
Echoing this stance, TKS President Eno. Rathreichan Keishing also condemned the act as an attempted murder of Naga brethren and urged the government of Manipur to ensure that justice prevails. “The government must impose stringent punishment on the perpetrators,” he remarked, “and provide appropriate compensation to the victims. We also call upon all communities to act responsibly and prevent inter-community discord during these challenging times.”
Amidst the ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur, the Naga community has displayed remarkable restraint, choosing a neutral stance to foster peace. However, TKS warns that this neutrality should not be mistaken for weakness. “If such violent acts against our people continue, the Naga community may be compelled to reassess our stance and take necessary measures to protect our people. We have endured with tolerance, but our dignity and security cannot be compromised indefinitely,” TKS President Keishing stated.
TNL and TKS stand in solidarity with the victims and the entire Poumai community in this hour of sorrow. TKS extends full support and assistance to our Poumai brethren, assuring them that we will remain vigilant against any further provocation or assault on our people.
