The Three-Day International Conference on “Exploring Current Trends in Physical Education and Sports Science: Innovation, Challenges, and Opportunities” successfully concluded today at Manipur University, Canchipur. The prestigious event was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, and various esteemed partners, including LNPE, NERC, Sonapur, Guwahati, Assam, PEFI Manipur Chapter, the International Federation of Physical Education, Fitness and Sports Science Association, and the Tribal Research Institute (TRI). The conference took place from March 5 to March 7, 2025. The valedictory ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries: Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, Canchipur (Chief Guest), Prof. L. Thambal Singh, Head, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University, Canchipur (President), Prof. T. Inaobi Singh, Former Dean, School of Education, Manipur University (Guest of Honour), Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Director and Head, Department of Physical Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Telangana (Guest of Honour).
This highly impactful conference attracted the participation of over 270 academicians, including twenty esteemed invited speakers from across India and two internationally renowned speakers. Experts and researchers presented thought-provoking papers on a diverse range of themes, including: Exercise Physiology and Sports Biomechanics, Science of Yoga and Adventure Sports, Sports Medicine, Injury Prevention, and Aging, Scientific Exercise Prescription and Physical Fitness, Mental Health, Research Pedagogy, and Psychological Interventions in Sports, Strength Training, Conditioning, and Sports Performance Enhancement, Emerging Scientific Trends and Challenges in Physical Education and Sports, Sports Nutrition, Exercise Metabolism, and Performance Optimization, Sports Management, Economic Impact, and Industrialization of Sports, Technological Innovations, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Journalism, Ethics, Legal Issues, Socialization through Sports, and Anti-Doping Measures etc.
The valedictory session commenced with a welcome speech by Prof. M. Chourjit Singh, Programme Coordinator. The Chief Guest, Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, lauded the conference for its pioneering discussions, knowledge dissemination, and its role in shaping the future of sports science and physical education. This conference served as a vital platform for academic discourse, knowledge exchange, and future collaborations in the field of Physical Education and Sports Science.
The Guest of Honour, Prof. T. Inaobi Singh, highlighted the significance of research-driven advancements in sports science. Prof. Rajesh Kumar emphasized the necessity of integrating technology and scientific methodologies into sports education and training. As President of the session, Prof. L. Thambal Singh expressed gratitude to all participants for their invaluable contributions.
