Thadou Community International condemns death threats, calls for swift action

IT News
Imphal, March 7:

Thadou Community International (TCI) has strongly condemned the death threats allegedly issued by the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) against the leaders of Thadou Inpi Manipur ahead of their scheduled press conference on peaceful coexistence between the Thadou and Meitei communities.
The press conference, set to take place on March 7, 2025, at Vishwa Yuwa Kendra in New Delhi, aims to foster mutual respect and peaceful dialogue between the two communities. However, the reported threats have raised serious concerns over attempts to suppress peace efforts through intimidation.
In a statement, TCI asserted that such threats endanger lives and seek to derail essential peace initiatives. It urged the authorities in Manipur, currently under President’s Rule, to take stringent action against those responsible, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved in peacebuilding efforts.
“Swift and firm legal action is necessary to prevent further attempts to disrupt peace,” the statement read, emphasizing that UKNA must be held accountable for any harm inflicted upon Thadou leaders. TCI also pledged to pursue all legal and diplomatic avenues to ensure justice.
Appealing to peace-loving individuals, organizations, and authorities, TCI called for collective resistance against violence and division, urging all stakeholders to uphold dialogue and cooperation over fear and intimidation.
