Security forces carried out extensive search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts of Manipur.
During the search operations, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives from different locations. In Phunal Maring Village, under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East District, security forces seized two No. 36 hand grenades without detonators, five 9mm pistols, one SMG carbine marked ‘CT05’ without a magazine, pistol grip, and bridge block, five .303 live ammunition, four 7.62mm AK live ammunition, one single-bore barrel with registration number 1667-76, two detonators with wire, one Baofeng radio set, one country-made machine gun with a magazine, two .22 live ammunition, and five anti-riot shells. Similarly, in the general area of Leibi Khunou, under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal District, one country-made lathode, eight IEDs, three Pompi shells, and one Baofeng radio set were recovered.
On February 22, 2025, Manipur Police conducted a special drive against stolen vehicles in Imphal East District, resulting in the seizure of five vehicles, including three Toyota Fortuners, one Mahindra Thar, and one Tata Safari. The police have confirmed that the crackdown will continue with full intensity. Authorities have urged the public to report stolen vehicles, as such vehicles are often linked to extortion, crimes against women, and other criminal activities.
To ensure the smooth movement of essential supplies, security measures were heightened along National Highways 2 and 37. A total of 304 vehicles on NH-2 and 234 vehicles on NH-37 were safely escorted. Strict security measures were implemented at vulnerable locations, and security convoys were provided in sensitive stretches to facilitate free and safe passage.
As part of the security operations, 110 Nakas and checkpoints were set up across various districts in both hill and valley areas. However, no individuals were detained for violations during these checks.
