RIMS Imphal hosts Swachhta Camp 2026

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organized the inaugural function of a 3-day Swachhta Students’ Camp,today scheduled from 26th to 28th March 2026, as part of the Special Manthan on Kayakalp guidelines, at Jubilee Hall, RIMS, Imphal.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, presided over the function as President, while Prof. Y. Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer, SAP/Kayakalp, RIMS, Imphal, attended as Guest of honour.
In his address, the Director emphasized that cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control are essential for ensuring quality healthcare and patient safety, highlighting the significance of the Kayakalp initiative in strengthening these standards. Addressing the students, he stated that they are the future and pillars of the nation, capable of influencing attitudes and bringing meaningful change, and urged them to take this responsibility seriously. He also advised avoiding plastic bags, limiting mobile phone use, and adopting cleanliness practices beginning at home and extending to the society.
On the first day, sessions on yoga and meditation were conducted, along with an insightful talk on measuring our plastic footprint—”Small Choices, Big Impact.” Mutum Monica Chanu, Inspection Control Expert/Nursing Officer, RIMS, Imphal, demonstrated proper hand hygiene techniques, while Dr. Mohd. Habibullah Khan, Programme Officer, Director of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur, delivered a talk on the disposal of day-to-day general waste. The camp was attended by around 250 students from 10 schools. The programme aims to instill a sense of responsibility and commitment towards maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment in line with national quality standards.
