Imphal, Aug 12:
The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal has strongly condemned the recent assault and brutal murder of a 31-year-old second-year Postgraduate Trainee at RG Kar Medical College in West Bengal. Describing the act as inhumane and deeply disturbing, the RDA has expressed shock and outrage, highlighting its impact on both the medical community and the public.
In solidarity with RG Kar Medical College, the RIMS RDA has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. They are demanding that the investigation be expedited and that regular updates on its progress be provided. Additionally, they have called for the establishment of a helpline for women doctors in distress and for enhanced security measures in hospitals to protect all staff, particularly women.
The RDA insists on severe and immediate punishment for those responsible, emphasizing that such crimes must be met with the full force of the law to deter future incidents against women in the medical field. They have urged local media to give the case extensive coverage, stressing that the issue is a significant societal concern beyond the medical community.
