Ukhrul, Aug 12:
In a spirited demonstration of patriotism and civic responsibility, the Ukhrul district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) actively participated in the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign by organizing a significant cleanliness drive at Ukhrul town headquarters on Monday.
This initiative, part of a broader national movement, was a dual celebration of India’s 77th Independence Day and a call to action for citizens to reaffirm their commitment to the country’s values and unity. The day’s activities commenced early, with party members gathering at Gandhi Chowk in Phungreitang, Ukhrul, at 7:30 AM. The event saw participation from all levels of the party’s district unit, including executives, Mandal and Morcha presidents, and numerous Karyakartas. Led by Eno. Somatai Shaiza, a former MLA candidate from Ukhrul, the participants undertook a mission to clean the town, symbolizing a fresh start and a purging of negativity in honor of the country’s freedom. The drive also featured representatives from Chingai, Phungyar, and Ukhrul Mandals, reflecting the widespread support and enthusiasm for the campaign.
The “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, launched by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with MyGov, is a nationwide initiative encouraging every Indian to display the national flag, the Tiranga, in their homes from August 13th to 15th. This effort aims to foster a closer, personal connection with the flag, traditionally viewed in a more formal and distant manner.
Shaiza remarked, “The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative is more than just a campaign; it is a platform for us to express our love for the nation by bringing the flag into our homes. The Indian National Flag represents our collective pride and unity.” He emphasized that the initiative seeks to ignite a deeper sense of patriotism and enhance understanding of the national flag’s significance.
Traditionally, the flag has been associated with formal occasions and public buildings, but the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign aims to create a more personal connection by encouraging citizens to display the flag prominently in their homes. This shift is especially meaningful as India marks its 77th Independence Day, a time to reflect on the nation’s journey and the sacrifices made for its freedom. Shaiza highlighted that hoisting the flag in every home serves as a reminder of these sacrifices and reaffirms the values the country upholds.
The event concluded with every Karyakarta hoisting the national flag both in their homes and in public spaces around Ukhrul. This act was not only a fulfillment of the campaign’s objectives but also a testament to the participants’ dedication to the nation. The sight of the Tiranga fluttering proudly across Ukhrul was a symbol of unity and patriotism, demonstrating the commitment of its people to preserving national ideals.
Shaiza reiterated the campaign’s importance, stating, “The flag is not just a piece of cloth; it embodies the values, sacrifices, and aspirations that have shaped our country. By hoisting the Tiranga in our homes, we are celebrating our shared heritage and collective future.” The BJP’s “Har Ghar Tiranga” and cleanliness drive in Ukhrul serve as a potent reminder of the importance of unity, pride, and responsibility in building a stronger, cleaner, and more prosperous India. Through such initiatives, the party aims to inspire citizens across the country to actively participate in the nation’s progress and honor the legacy of those who fought for India’s freedom.
