A sit-in protest was staged at Bijoy Govinda Community Hall in Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Maning Leikai, Imphal West district, condemning the firing of gunshots at the residence of RK Angangbi Singh by unidentified assailants on the evening of March 1.
The protest, organized by the Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Maning Leikai Meira Paibi, strongly denounced the firing incident in a residential area. Speaking to the media, RK Binashakhi, President of the Meira Paibi, condemned the act as an act of terror and called for justice.
She stated that the victim’s wife, RK Ongbi Soniya Devi, serves as the secretary of the Meira Paibi, making the incident even more distressing for the community. Emphasizing the need for peace, she urged that such violent acts should not be repeated, especially during these challenging times.
RK Binashakhi further stressed that any misunderstandings between armed personnel and RK Angangbi Singh should be resolved through dialogue rather than violence. She appealed to all concerned parties to prioritize peaceful resolution over acts of intimidation.
It may be mentioned that unidentified armed individuals fired gunshots at the gate of RK Angangbi Singh’s residence on the evening of March 1, creating panic in the locality.
