Imphal, Mar 2:
The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has lauded the Manipur Police and the Cyber Crime Unit for the swift arrest of those involved in the leakage of the Social Science question paper for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM). The student body has, however, demanded life imprisonment for the accused.
Addressing media persons, DESAM Secretary General Nongthombam Thoithoiba expressed deep concern over the incident, terming it highly unfortunate that the Vice Principal of Little Master Higher Secondary School, Samadram Meghachandra Singh (46), son of S. Ibotombi from Haokha Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district, and the school’s Assistant Officer-in-Charge (AOC) Yumnam Ranjit Singh (46), son of Yumnam Shamu from the same locality, were allegedly involved in the crime.
DESAM condemned their actions as misleading to society and demanded stringent punishment under the Manipur Prevention of Malpractice in High School Leaving Certificate and Higher Secondary Examination Act, 2024. The student body also urged BOSEM and the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COSEM) to derecognize Little Master Higher Secondary School for its involvement in the malpractice.
Furthermore, DESAM called on the Chief Secretary of Manipur to take the matter with utmost seriousness. The student organization warned that failure to meet its demands would result in various forms of agitation after the conclusion of the ongoing examination.
