Imphal, Nov 20:
The Indian National Teachers’ Congress (INTEC) has issued a heartfelt appeal to the Ministry of Home Affairs, urging immediate intervention to address the prolonged unrest in Manipur. In a letter dated November 19, 2024, the organization expressed deep concern over the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on the lives, property, and well-being of the state’s people.
Highlighting Manipur’s rich history of cultural diversity and harmony, INTEC noted that recent events have disrupted the social fabric, leading to displacement, loss of lives, destruction of infrastructure, and widespread insecurity. Despite earlier efforts to address the crisis, peace and normalcy remain elusive, underscoring the need for urgent and effective measures.
The letter called for meaningful dialogue among all stakeholders to establish a platform for inclusive and peaceful negotiations. It emphasized the necessity of enhancing security measures to ensure the safety of all communities and providing humanitarian aid to those displaced or severely affected by the violence. INTEC also stressed the importance of fostering trust and mutual respect through confidence-building initiatives while urging swift action to deliver justice and uphold the rule of law.
INTEC expressed solidarity with the people of Manipur, urging the government to act decisively to restore stability and address the underlying issues fueling the conflict. The organization emphasized that only through timely and inclusive efforts can peace be restored in the region.
