Manipur doctors appointed to key national roles at CAHOCON 2026

In a significant recognition for Manipur’s healthcare sector, two senior medical professionals from the state have been appointed to key leadership positions at CAHOCON 2026, held at the Chennai Trade Centre in Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Palin Khundongbam, Chairman and Managing Director of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, has been appointed Chairman of the Northeast Zone under the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO). Dr. Asit Kumar Debnath, Medical Director of Mother’s Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, has been named State Chairman for Manipur under CAHO.
The 10th edition of CAHOCON assumes added importance as it also served as the first South Asia Regional Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), marking a major step in positioning the event on the global platform of healthcare quality and patient safety.
Organised by CAHO, the conference witnessed participation from over 2,500 delegates, including leading healthcare professionals, policymakers, and institutions from across India and abroad. The event was inaugurated by former Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Welcoming the appointments, the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Manipur Chapter, described the development as a major milestone for both the state and the Northeast region. The association stated that the recognition reflects the growing role of Manipur’s healthcare institutions in advancing quality-driven and patient-centric care.
