The Thadou Community International (TCI) has strongly condemned the killing of two minor children in the April 7 blast at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district, describing the incident as a result of prolonged inaction and policy failures.
In a statement, TCI said the deaths of the children and the injury to their mother reflected what it termed a growing security concern, and called for accountability and justice. It urged the people of Manipur to unite against all forms of violence and warned that continued inaction could further aggravate the situation.
The organisation alleged that repeated warnings by Thadou civil bodies regarding rising violence and radicalisation had not been adequately addressed. It expressed concern over what it described as a lack of decisive action against armed groups, adding that such gaps could embolden violent elements.
TCI also criticised recent engagements between authorities and certain groups, while claiming that pro-peace civil society organisations had not been sufficiently involved in the peace process.
Coinciding with the 8th State-Level Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2026 in Imphal, TCI highlighted the release of a book titled “Manipur in Peril: The Danger of Kuki Supremacism and Radicalism”, produced by Thadou Students’ Association, Thadou Inpi Manipur and TCI. The organisation said the publication examines factors contributing to the ongoing unrest and calls for addressing root causes of conflict.
According to TCI, the book outlines concerns over ideological, political and militant dimensions of the crisis and advocates policy reforms, including review of existing frameworks and greater accountability.
The organisation further stated that despite challenges, the Thadou community has continued to pursue dialogue and peaceful engagement, and reiterated the need for measures grounded in constitutional values and inclusive coexistence to restore lasting peace in Manipur.
