The Keisham Sagei Foundation, Manipur, held its 18th Meritorious Award Felicitation 2025 today at Hotel Tampha, North AOC, Imphal. The event began at 11:00 a.m. and was attended by dignitaries, awardees, and invitees.
Keisham Meghachandra Singh, MLA of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, attended as Chief Guest, while Foundation President, Keisham Irabot Mangangcha presided over the function. Dr. K. Bheigyachandra Singh, Professor at Manipur University, was the Guest of Honour.
In his speech, MLA Meghachandra stated that recognising meritorious students not only encourages them academically but also motivates them in choosing the right path in a competitive world. He urged the youth to contribute to nation-building.
Among the awardees was Keisham Hannah Devi of Yairipok Bishnunaha, who secured the 1st rank in the Class XII Arts stream under COHSEM. Her achievement was warmly appreciated during the event.
The Foundation also highlighted the rich cultural and genealogical legacy of the Keisham clan. The clan’s recorded history traces back to Pheijakong, with formal documentation beginning during the reign of King Loiyumba (1074–1122 AD). Historical records suggest the clan originated shortly after the reign of King Nongda Lairen Pakhangba in 33 AD.
In 2005, the Keisham Sagei Foundation published the Keisham Sagei Taaba Puya (Genealogy of the Keisham Clan) in both Meitei Mayek and Bengali scripts. The document serves as a historical record for Keisham clan members and their descendants and is considered an important cultural contribution in preserving the heritage of the indigenous Meitei community.
