The grand inauguration of the 1st Manipur Doctors Olympic Games 2025 was held today at the RIMS Indoor Stadium, Imphal, in a vibrant and energetic ceremony that brought together medical professionals from across the state. The event is organized by the Manipur Orthopedic Society (MOS) in collaboration with the Manipur Masters Athletic Association (MMAA) and the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of physical health and well-being among medical professionals and commended the organizers for initiating such a unique and commendable event.
The function was also attended by Guests of Honour, including Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, MCS, Director i/c (YAS) and Joint Secretary (Home), Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Imphal, Dr. Ch. Banikanta Sharma, Secretary of the Manipur Orthopedic Society, and Thambal Sharma, Secretary of the Manipur Masters Athletic Association. Each of them delivered messages of encouragement, highlighting the value of sports in promoting holistic health, stress management, and unity among healthcare professionals.
To mark the inauguration, singles and doubles badminton matches were held, in which the Director of RIMS himself participated. Other games such as table tennis, carrom, and chess were also conducted, showcasing the enthusiasm and talent of the participating doctors.”
