A reception ceremony was held today at the Loktak Hall of the Manipur Press Club to honour Manikanta Mutum, an esteemed environmental activist. The event was organized by the DFO of the Central Forest Division.
During the ceremony, MLA Ibomcha recounted his first meeting with Manikanta Mutum, who had brought tree saplings to his residence. He highlighted Manikanta Mutum’s proposal during a recent Manipur Assembly session, which suggested that job appointments should include a requirement for candidates to plant tree saplings.
MLA Ibomcha further expressed that Manikanta Mutum advocated for awarding extra marks to students who plant and care for saplings. MLA Ibomcha stressed the importance of addressing global environmental challenges, noting that inaction could jeopardize future survival.
MLA Ibomcha praised Manikanta Mutum, describing him as a rare and invaluable individual in society, deserving of support. He also expressed hope that Manikanta Mutum will be blessed by divine favor in all his future endeavors.
The ceremony was attended by Khongbantabam Ibomcha, MLA of Lamlai Assembly constituency, Keke Wahengbam, former announcer at AIR Imphal, Kshetri Tama Devi former Up-Adhyaksha of Imphal East Zilla Parishad, Bantee KonthoujamMCS Joint Secretary of Social Welfare and Eteen Maibam, social activist as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
