Senapati, Sept 19:

In continuation of nationwide Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign 2024, an awareness programme onpromoting cleanliness and hygiene was held today at CEO/ ADC conference hall, Senapati.
The resource persons of today’s programme were Shanngam S, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO/ ADC, Senapati and Nehemiah Rong, PE, DRDA, Senapati.
Addressing the gathering, Adahrii Maheo, CEO/ ADC Senapati spoke on Manipur Plastic Policy- 2022 in details.Starting from home, he said a spot should be identify to dispose the waste. He also said that the used of plastics will be banned in the district HQ starting from October 2 onwards as it has been concerned of the district. He also deliberated on Plastic waste management- Segregation of waste at source, resource recovery facilities and so on. Later, he urged the village chairmen and secretaries to incorporate this waste management agenda during their meeting. While disposing water bottles, he appealed the gathering to make use of plastic bottles bank installed at various location.
The Divisional Forest Officer of Senapati, Shanngam S, IFS in his presentation spoke on the legal framework for Wildlife Conservation in India. He mentioned that Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 has been set up for the protection of plants and animal species. He also appealed the gathering to pass on the information to the people while going back to their respective place.
Speaking on Convergence of schemes- Scope of waste management under MGNREGA, Nehemiah Rong, Project Economist, DRDA mentioned on four types of convergence which are financial convergence, technical convergence, livelihood convergence and capacity building convergence. He also highlighted that 260 kinds of work are permissible under NREGS. In channelling the benefits from MGNREGA, he urged the village leaders to visit office for further information and go through proper documentation. He also appealed to identify the local needs in general body meeting and to review their previous work.
