The six-day Winter Camp organized by the Assam Rifles Battalion at Tamenglong concluded yesterday with a closing ceremony attended by students, parents, and civil dignitaries, including leaders from various Civil Society Organisations.
The event featured captivating performances by the Assam Rifles Pipe Band, Jazz Band, and participating students. The ceremony concluded with the felicitation of participants, followed by dinner.
The camp, designed to provide a well-rounded experience for young students, included educational, recreational, and adventure activities. A total of 53 children from Tamenglong District participated in activities such as trekking, tent pitching, fun runs, yoga, tree plantation drives, and adventure games. Sightseeing trips to Tharon Caves, Khongsang Railway Station, and Barak River added excitement, while visits to a police station, bank, and fire station aimed to enhance awareness.
The camp aimed to foster exploration, social and individual skills, innovative thinking, and interest in hobbies and sports. Parents expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for providing their children with such a unique opportunity, which many considered unimaginable. They also praised the continuous efforts of the Tamenglong Battalion for the upliftment of youth and children, urging for similar events to be organized annually.
The camp concluded with closing remarks from the officiating Commandant of Assam Rifles, marking the end of an enriching experience for the children.
