2 arrested with drugs; Security measures tightened across Manipur

Security forces continued search operations and area domination in vulnerable and fringe areas across various districts of Manipur, the Manipur Police Control Room stated on Thursday.
According to the report, police on October 22 arrested Md. Bogimayum Khommei (54) of Paobitek Maning Leikai, Wangoi Sub-Division, Imphal West district, from Martyrs Park along NH-2, under Mao Police Station in Senapati district. A total of nine soap cases containing brown sugar weighing 119 grams, along with a mobile phone, Aadhaar card, SBI debit card, and an Adidas carry bag were seized from his possession.
In another operation, on October 23, security forces arrested Md. Muhammad Iboyai (51) of Borayangbi Mayai Leikai, Moirang Sub-Division, Bishnupur district, in front of Tengnoupal Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The seizure included one packet of WY tablets weighing around one kilogram, a two-wheeler with registration card, and a mobile phone along with Aadhaar card.
The statement further informed that the movement of 119 vehicles carrying essential goods along NH-37 was ensured under tight security arrangements. Convoys and security measures have been deployed along sensitive stretches to guarantee safe passage of vehicles.
Altogether, 114 checkpoints were set up across districts in both hill and valley areas, though no individual was detained during the checks.
The police appealed to the public not to believe in rumours or fake videos circulating on social media. Citizens are advised to verify the authenticity of any such materials through the Central Control Room helpline number 9233522822. The statement warned that uploading or sharing false or fabricated posts would invite strict legal action.
Authorities also urged the public to surrender any looted arms, ammunition, or explosives to the nearest police station or security forces at the earliest.
