The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has strongly condemned the Indian Army’s drone strike on Khenmoi-Loiyi (Khammoi) village in East Konyak Region, Myanmar, on October 20, 2025, which reportedly claimed the lives of two civilians — a 27-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl — and left four others critically injured.
In a statement issued by Roben Khuman, Deputy Secretary (Publicity) of the outfit, the RPF described the attack as an act of cowardice, genocide, and war crime, alleging that it reflects India’s continued aggression against the peoples of the Western South East Asia (WeSEA) region. The organisation conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with those injured and traumatized by the incident.
The statement accused the Indian Army of targeting civilians under the guise of counter-insurgency operations, citing past incidents such as the killings of Rose and Monorama as examples of what it termed the Army’s “heinous crimes against civilians.” According to the RPF, the use of drones to kill civilians marks a new and dangerous phase in India’s military approach.
Terming the attack a “deliberate cross-border assault” on Naga civilian communities, the RPF said it constituted a serious breach of international humanitarian norms and human decency. The group asserted that the October 20 incident was not isolated but part of a pattern of Indian drone operations and cross-border strikes conducted earlier in 2025 along the Indo-Myanmar frontier, which have reportedly endangered non-combatants.
The outfit also noted that independent observers, ethnic forums, and civil society organisations have raised concerns about India’s alleged drone warfare policy, which it said “places civilians directly in harm’s way and erodes the sanctity of human life.”
Calling for international attention, the RPF urged civil society and human rights groups in the WeSEA Region to bring the matter before global human rights and humanitarian bodies, including relevant United Nations agencies. It further demanded an independent international inquiry into the October 20 drone strike and related operations, seeking accountability for those responsible under international law.
The group also appealed for an immediate halt to all cross-border military actions that endanger civilians and urged for urgent humanitarian access and protection for the affected communities in the region.
