AMAWOVA observed 36th Foundation Day, Dr. Dhanabir calls for punctuality

The All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) celebrated its 36th Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and spirit today at G.M. Hall, Imphal, drawing a large gathering of members, well-wishers, and leaders from various civil society organizations.
Although the event was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., proceedings started around 12 noon, prompting a gentle rebuke from the day’s resource person, Dr. Dhanabir Laishram, a noted social scientist. In his address, Dr. Dhanabir stressed the importance of punctuality and time management, stating that discipline and coordination are essential for any organization striving to make meaningful social change.
A key highlight of the occasion was the special honour accorded to leaders of various civil society organizations and a heartfelt tribute to the 15 founding members of AMAWOVA, whose dedication and vision laid the foundation for the association’s continued success.
Speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Toijam Tampha Devi of the Department of Manipur Studies, Manipur University; S. Memcha, President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur; and Y. Kunjarani, President of AMAWOVA. The speakers reflected on the association’s remarkable journey and reaffirmed its mission to strengthen women’s unity, empowerment, and participation in social transformation.
The event concluded on a warm and celebratory note with the presentation of gifts, expressions of gratitude, and a melodious rendition of the song “Liklang Pareng.” A vote of thanks and light refreshments brought the day to a close, marking another memorable milestone in AMAWOVA’s enduring legacy as one of Manipur’s most respected women’s organizations.
