Ukhrul/Kamjong, February 1:
The Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL) has come down heavily on the rampant practice of negative tender bidding, terming it a serious threat to the quality, durability, and credibility of developmental projects in Tangkhul areas.
In a strongly worded press statement, TNZL Chairman SP Lowry said the organisation was compelled to issue the warning following widespread concerns raised by the community over the execution of development programmes undertaken by both the State and Central governments.
While acknowledging the government’s initiatives to bring development to the region, the TNZL expressed deep alarm over the growing trend of unrealistic and arbitrary tender bidding, which often results in substandard construction and wastage of public resources.
The TNZL categorically directed all departments, contractors, and implementing agencies operating within the jurisdiction of Zingsho Longphang to strictly refrain from negative bidding in all projects and programmes. Special mention was made of the upcoming construction of the New Model Degree College at Kamjong District Headquarters under the PMUSHA 2025–26 scheme, to be executed by the Department of Education (S), Engineering Wing.
Issuing a clear warning, the organisation asserted that it would not remain a mute spectator to corruption, negligence, dereliction of duty, or irresponsible functioning of officials and departments. It cautioned that any compromise on quality or accountability would invite strong action from the community.
Calling for transparency, integrity, and professionalism, the TNZL urged all stakeholders to ensure that developmental works meet the highest standards, stressing that genuine development must be built on quality, accountability, and public trust.
