Imphal, July 16:
The present conflict engulfing Manipur is an internal affair of the state and no country has any right to interfere and the European Parliament should use their time to solve European problems of Russia-Ukraine war or the recent riots in France stated a press release issued by MLA RK Imo Singh.
Adding that the present conflict is one between illegal armed groups and foreign militia against the state and central security forces and hearing one side of the conflict and expressing it as a religious conflict against a particular religion is unfortunate
as there is no religious extremism in the state and only confirms the ignorance and lack of knowledge of the laws of the country as well as the prevailing issues in the state by the European Parliament.
Demanding answers from the European Parliament as to the source of the arms and ammunitions and identity of the suppliers, as well as the method of replenishing them for the last few months since the conflict started, the release further asserted that the violence seem politically motivated but not for religious issues rather as a reaction to the government action against illegal migrants across the state, action against poppy cultivation and war against drugs, eviction from reserved forest land etc. And even though these government measures affected a certain section of the community more than others, it will ultimately protect all the indigenous people of the state the release added.
Questioning the motive behind seeking foreign intervention as well as the narratives presented in these debates and the people responsible for trying to paint the country in bad light while trying to get some brownie points against one community in Manipur, the release concluded that no appeal or foreign discussion will bring peace in Manipur, expressing his desire for more proactive measures and stringent actions by the central government to bring peace in the region, the people’s representative appealed for all sections of the society to come together and make the best efforts to bring normalcy in the state.
