District Health Society, Chandel, organized World Hepatitis Day 2024, at District Hospital Chandel under the theme “It’s time for Action”. The program was attended by Mayanglambam Rajkumar IAS, Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Dr. Jayson Mathew Monsang, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Mission Director of District Health Society Chandel and Dr. Serbum Shachung Moyon, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Chandel as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Dr. Laishram Deben, the District Nodal Officer (DNO) of the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP), participated as a Resource Person and spoke about Hepatitis during the event. The event was also attended by Jasha Premi, the District Program Manager (DPM) of National Health Mission (NHM) Chandel, and Tovir Ngoruh, the District Community Mobilizer (DCM) along with ASHA Workers and ASHA Facilitators.
During the program, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar IAS, highlighted that Hepatitis, being a silent killer, is a serious health concern that needs attention and recognizing and raising awareness about the issue, along with observing the designated day, is crucial and to convert it into action is essential.
Rajkumar further said that people often overlook Hepatitis and urged them not to take it lightly. He emphasized the importance of learning more about the disease and getting tested as a precautionary measure.
