World Consumer Rights Day observed

World Consumer Rights Day was observed today at the auditorium of the High Court of Manipur, Mantripukhri. The programme was organized in connection with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the High Court Bar Association by Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MSLSA) in association with High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HCBAM) under the theme “antibiotic resistance”.
Speaking the keynote address, Member Secretary of RK Memcha Devi said that all people are consumers and today’s observance is to promote and make aware the basic rights of all consumers and that those rights are respected and protected, and for protesting the market abuses face by the consumers and the social injustices which undermine them.
RK Memcha Devi further said that to promote the basic rights of all consumers, awareness programme for World Consumer Rights Day will be held at different corner of the state.
World Consumer Rights Day was first observed on 15 March 1983, and has since become an important occasion for mobilising citizen action.
M Okendro Singh, Education Minister (CAF/PD) of Manipur; Kh Binoykumar Sing, Senior Advocate and President of High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HCBAM) and Th Ibohal Singh, Leading Advocate General of Manipur attended as Chief Guests, President and Guest of Honour of today’s function, respectively.
