The ASI and SI recruits who are undergoing training at the Manipur Police Training College (MPTC), Pangei today morning protested by shutting down the main gate of the Training Center on the alleged report of collecting money from them by some people on the pretext that the passing out parade would be held soon.
Speaking to the media persons, a trainee alleged that Director of MPTC H Chandramani have not made any arrangement for holding the passing out parade for them despite their training period have surpassed over one year. The recruits went into agitation mode today morning as the Director failed to fix the date for holding the passing out parade after having repeated conversation with the representative of the recruits and the Director.
The trainee protestors alleged that the Director have been collecting a sum of 500 rupees in addition to the ration money of 1000 rupees insuring to provide good food  which does not happen, but instead the Training Center has been turned into a business center by forcibly selling books, lottery tickets, etc. Meanwhile, another 1600 rupees has been collected on the excuse that shoes would be provided.
The recruits alleged that in the first week of this month, some people close to the Director asked them to give money so that the passing out parade would be held soon.
As the situation became tense, Director Chandramani came to the spot and tried to convince them saying that the passing out parade would be held on March 21 or 30. But the recruits refused to accept the assurance saying that no fixed date was given, then the Director left the place.
In today’s protest, the ASI and SI recruits blocked the road by placing tree logs and bamboos and other available materials.
The ASI and SI recruits numbering about 366 and 376 respectively have been undergoing training at the Manipur Police Training Center since March 15 of 2015.
