Who will get BJP ticket in Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat?

Imphal, Mar 20:

Central Election Committee of the BJP is reportedly set to convene today, and the outcome of the discussions in the meeting may provide clarity on who will be contesting in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency from the BJP ticket.
Regarding the proliferation of rumours, speculations, and alleged leaks emanating from the corridors of power suggesting that CM Biren Singh could be contesting as BJP candidate from the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency in the upcoming LS election a reliable source said – “where there’s smoke, there’s fire. It appears that someone is intentionally disseminating this information, and time will reveal the underlying motive.”
The source further conveyed to Imphal Times that “Come what may, political heavyweights like CM Biren will be prepared for any scenario. There is no doubt about that.” Furthermore, “the allocation of a ticket to the incumbent CM might not necessarily be linked to any demand from the Kuki community amidst the ongoing conflict in the State. The primary criterion for selecting the party candidate would likely be their potential for victory. The reported news indicating that the two Lok Sabha seats of Manipur have been categorized as C-category for the party could lead to the selection of the most promising candidate, as every seat holds significance for the party,” the source explained.
Many may view this as an opportunity to foster peace in the state instead of waiting for communal violence to mark its one-year anniversary. It is now imperative to ascertain the mandate of the diverse populace in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, determining whether N. Biren Singh still commands the respect of the people as the Chief Minister.
The claims of a corruption-free administration and good governance in government appointments under Biren Singh’s leadership over the past seven years will also undergo scrutiny when he vies for the Lok Sabha seat. “Merely relying on negative perceptions won’t suffice. It remains uncertain if a promising political career awaits him in national politics, potentially securing a prestigious post like the first-ever Union Cabinet Minister from Manipur, should the central leadership of the party decide that nothing is beyond reach”, the source added.
