Journalist covering poll can vote using postal ballots

Imphal, Mar 20:

Media personnel covering “polling day activities” with authorization letters from the Election Commission, as well as those employed in essential services such as metros, railways, and healthcare, are eligible to vote using postal ballots in the Lok Sabha and four state assembly polls.
The Election Commission (EC) has communicated its notification to all state chief electoral officers outlining the categories of “absentee voters on essential service” who are identified for voting through postal ballots. While journalists covering polling day activities and essential services personnel have been utilizing postal ballots during assembly elections, this facility has now been extended for Lok Sabha polls as well.
Media personnel who have been issued authorization letters by the commission to cover polling day activities are among the various categories identified for the use of postal ballots. An EC spokesperson stated that media personnel in Delhi who are authorized by the commission for coverage on poll day can opt to cast their votes through postal ballots.
These individuals can obtain Form 12D from the office of the respective district election officer of their parliamentary constituency where they are registered as voters. Alternatively, they can download the form from the website of the respective chief electoral officer.
