Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurates today Vigyan Sadan in the FEEDS Campus at Henbung, Senapati District, Manipur. The Vigyan Sadan has been constructed as a centre to promote Science, Technology and Innovation to scale up development in Manipur State in particular and NE Region in general.
In his speech Shri Harsh Vardhan expressed that he was surprised to see the activities taken up by the FEEDS (Foundation for Environment & Economic Development Services) for promoting research, extension & development using technology and innovation. He also said that Govt. of India is taking up special attention for the development of NE Region. I felt that the Region particularly Manipur has a bright future in exploiting the vast natural resources for the welfare of the people.
The function was attended by Shri Kh. Raghumani Singh, IAS, Additional Secretary, Deptt of Science & Technology, Govt. of Manipur and Shri K. Lakshmikanta Sharma, ADM, Senapati as President and Guest of Honour respectively.
It may be worthwhile to mention that the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) was set up in 2002 under ICAR, Govt. of India and has been extending agricultural technologies. This KVK was awarded the best KVK of the NE Region, 2012.
