The United Naga Council (UNC) has lifted the high way blockade and the ban on the construction of National project in Naga inhabited area from 12 noon today following talk with the officials of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.The decision to lift the high way blockade was taken in a meeting of the UNC held at Senapati district head quarter today morning.According to source Prakash Mishra, Special Secretary Home of the Union Ministry held a meeting with the members of the UNC yesterday evening and appealed the Naga apex body to lift the blockade as well as the ban on the construction of National project.The UNC has been imposing high way blockade and ban on the construction of National project in Naga inhabited area since 6.am of September 4 in protest against the killing of Mayopham Ramror and Ramkashing Vashi during a mass rally held at Ukhrul on August 30. Both were allegedly killed in police action to disperse the rallyist.A source from the UNC said that the decision to lift the ban was taken in good faith after meeting the representatives from the central government.Another source said that the lifting of the Highway Blockade and the ban on the National Project came after the Special Secretary of the Union Home Ministry assured the UNC representatives to convene meeting with the Prime Minister of India within 10 days.
