UNC denies meeting with NPF, calls media report baseless

Special Correspondent
Ukhrul, Feb 9:

The United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly refuted a report published in The Sangai Express on February 8, 2025, which alleged that the council held a meeting with the Naga People’s Front (NPF), Manipur State Unit, regarding the ongoing political crisis in the state.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Wing, UNC clarified that no such meeting took place and dismissed the report as unfounded and misleading. The apex body of the Southern Nagas emphasized that it has no involvement in the current leadership turmoil in Manipur, making the claims baseless and unwarranted.
UNC further urged media houses to verify facts before publishing reports that could mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion. It reaffirmed its commitment to representing the interests of the Naga people and distanced itself from any speculation regarding the state’s political affairs.
With this clarification, the UNC aims to set the record straight and cautioned against misinformation that could distort public perception.
