UKAL condemns the third amendment bill of the Shree Govindaji Temple

Imphal, August 02: Umang Lai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) and various other civil society organisations condemned the third amendment bill of the Shree Govindaji Temple passed during the last Legislative Assembly Session.

Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club, Ng. Kangjia Mangang, President, Umang Lai Ngakshel Lup said the bill which proposes to authorise the Pandit Loishang under the Govindajee temple Board to give directions as to the right mode of ‘seva and puja (thouram-thouni)’ of the Umanglais which have faith, allegiance and affiliation to the Pandit Loishang of the Govindajee Temple is an infringement to the secular identity of the Indian Constitution as to the Right to Religion. He further said if the bill has been passed by the Governor they are all prepared to approach to the President and Prime Minister of the country as it’s a matter of Secularism.
