Imphal,August.1: Intensified Diarrhoea Control fortnight observation with the aim of “Zero Child Death due to Childhood Diarrhea” was launched at the Khangabok BASU Ground, Thoubal District today.
T.Ranjit Singh DC Thoubal/Chairman,District Health Society,Thoubal, Dr.S.Saratkumar Singh,CMO/District Mission Director,District Health Society,Thoubal and Dr.N.Jayantakumar Singh,DFWO/Mem.Secy,District Health Society,Thoubal attended the launching programme as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively. The observance was organized by the District Health Society, Thoubal. In connection with the occasion, Primary and Middle School students from various educational institutions staged a rally from Khangabok BASU Ground to the CMO Complex, Thoubal.
Delivering keynote address, DPM of the District Health Society, Thoubal Th.Rishikesh Sharma stated that focus on women and child health is the most important targets amongst other target of the National Health Mission which was previously called the National Rural Health Mission.
Highlighting the main objectives of the fortnight observation, Th.Rishikes Sharma said Diarrhea Control and under nourished children below 5 years with related activities that included Home visits by ASHAs for prophylactic distribution of ORS-Zinc, establishment of ORS-Zinc corners, ensuring prescription or ORS with Zinc dispersible tablets and referral and medical management by all health providers including medical officers would be taken up during the fortnight.
